Why does Stockholm Exergi colour district heating water green?
We colour the district heating water with pyranine dye in order to identify leaks. By finding leaks promptly, we can quickly begin repair work and thereby minimise the risk of possible damage and other consequences related to leaks. This method is used by several energy companies in Sweden and other companies to find leaks in supply systems and structures.
What should I do if I see green water in an outdoor environment?
If you see green water in an outdoor environment, this may be due to a leak in the district heating network. You should contact us on 020 313151. Please keep your distance from such water as it water may be very hot.
What should I do if I see green water coming from my taps at home?
If you your hot water at home runs green, it is probably because your district heating plant has a leak. You should then contact your property owner and report the fault. If you live in a detached house, contact us on 020 31 31 51 for help with service and repair of your substation.
NEVER drink green water from the tap: district heating water is not approved as drinking water.
